Olympic National Forest Adventure Session

Adventure sessions are by far my favorite, and this one in particular has always been one for the books.Nothing like backroads, dreamy open meadows, lush forests, evergreens, mountains, an adorable couple and their beloved Subaru STI. Both of them were car enthusiasts hailing out of Shelton, WA. I was super excited to take this one on, and knew the perfect location. On the day of our shoot we headed out into the Olympic National Forest, just before the High Steel Bridge. I loved everything about this shoot, the color coordinated outfits, dappled golden lighting shining through the trees, and getting to capture a love story.

eddy & Tiffany sonoma race

Tiffany & Eddy are a couple of racers from Portland, OR. They do all of the livestreams for the Lucky Dog Racing League, and were headed to Sonoma Raceway for the series event. As the official Lucky Dog photographer for the Northern California tracks, Eddy reached out to me wondering if he could get both trackside pictures, and do a couples shoot for their wedding announcement. It was a rainy weekend at the track, with a big storm underway, so we headed under the grandstands to get coverage, and get out of the paddock. There we did a quick shoot before they needed to pack up the trailer and head back home.

big sur proposal

I do a lot of surprise proposals, however this one was a surprise to me. I was already doing a photoshoot in Big Sur, when I glanced over to this beautiful moment. My client wanted to watch the proposal so we figured this would be a good opportunity to capture a few photos for them.

Bonny Doon Senior Session

As we near the end of summer, I wanted to share one of my favorite senior sessions, as the time is upon us to start preparing for this years senior portraits. Last year I was contacted by a senior Fern, her and her mom who booked me all the way out of Sacramento, which I was so honored to collaborate and prepare. We scheduled to meet at Natural Bridges State Park in Santa Cruz, but once we arrived, the lighting, tide, and high crowds of people on the beach were less than ideal. We shifted gears and headed further north, where we ended up on a beautiful beach in Bonny Doon. The scenery was breathtaking, with high sandstone cliff walls, the trail was quite literally off the beaten track with it’s very own train track crossing. Our path to the beach was steep, but we welcomed the adventure, as we were surrounded by magic, as massive waves crashed against the shore, and the sky glowed from golden hour.

Big Sur Photo Session

Abby & I met at the Glen Oaks Lodge in Big Sur, CA. She followed me a few miles down the road to Pfeiffer Beach, just a mile south of Pfeiffer State Park. It’s a sharp right from the highway 1, and then a long meander through a damp redwood filled gulch with creeks and redwoods that go on for a decent stretch. Eventually you arrive at the pay booth and find parking. We walked down to the beach, where we were greeted by the beautiful scenery, large waves, pristine sand, and a golden hour and sunset that took us in awe. I wanted Abby’s photoshoot to capture the dramatic landscape and to be able to show her somewhere iconic and memorable. Each and every photoshoot is a chance to set the perfect atmosphere for the client, and to give them an experience they won’t forget, alongside pictures to last a lifetime. Here are some favorites!

Aspen Grove Wedding

Alex and Jake had their wedding at the Aspen Grove on the North Shore of Lake Tahoe. It was a beautiful fall day. The venue was tucked into a literal aspen grove directly across from the beach. They had been so busy preparing for their actual wedding that they hadn't even been on the beach yet. First we checked in with the little booth to see if we could sneak on the beach for a few photos, and I'm so glad we did. The beach seemed to be littered in a sea of people, that all started to stand up and clap for the bride and groom. I kind of hoped something that like that would happen. As we walked to the water it seemed we'd never get a shot without people behind them so we used it to our advantage and pretty much just photobombed the beach. Below are few of my favorite moments from their wedding. Enjoy!
